A- mazing ! ! !
You must go there, stand on the property to experience the 220 degrees panoramic views, warm ocean breeze, the Blue Pacific breaking below, w/ the birds and monkeys swinging thru the trees- Build your own dream home on site... bring the whole family!

After several visits we fell in love with Panama, and spent more than 4 months exploring the country, looking for the 'perfect' piece of land. We loved the many islands around Bocas del Toro and the Caribbean, but found the bugs too oppressive and realized it was way too remote - a 3-4 hour trip by ferry/car to David, the next bigger town. The Pacific Coast around Santa Clara didn't appeal to us at all, - too developed and lacking in beauty. The east coast of the Azuero peninsula was ok, but seemed too dry and uninteresting as far as the landscape and beaches go. We finally worked our way over to the western side of the Azuero, which is located in the province of Veraguas, and we were blown away by its untouched beauty, lush green mountains and unspoiled beaches. We knew that this was the place we were looking for. Except for the inaccessible Pacific Coast of the Darien, this is the only place in Panama were the sun sets into the ocean to the west, just like at home in California. At a cantina in the small town of Torio we saw a sign advertising properties. This led us to Jake, and he showed us some of his lots. After several more trips from our base in the Canal Zone down to Torio, and checking out other offers in the area we settled on a property with panoramic ocean vistas, which Jake & Alli were selling. They also introduced us to Oriel, a great lawyer in Santiago, who speaks decent English - which is a real plus when you are trying to understand legal contracts in Spanish with limited knowledge of the language. It's been 2 years, and we never regretted buying from Jake & Alli, - we can highly recommend their services! They are honest people, and offer a wide selection of different properties, and even finished homes. The pricing is affordable. Jake and Alli came to Panama from the United States, and besides speaking fluent Spanish, they haven't forgotten how to communicate in English ;-) An other plus!

Panama, and the Azuero Peninsula in particular, will always have a special place in my heart. The land south of Santiago, past Torio and beyond to the Cerro Hoya is immaculate, pleasant, inviting and is a place that all should see in the future. The properties down there for sale are qualtiy, all have great views, good location for equal solitude and convenience to modern amenities. From all my past visits, I have wandered off and explored with locals, non-locals and alone and each time felt safe and in awe of the landscape. The weather is normally warm with a brief cool evening here and there. The water is perfect for morning swims and afternoon cool -off periods. Not only do Jake and Alli provide proper open communication, but they give space and support for anything one wants to accomplish in this special place. I recommend this area to anyone that is buying, vacationing, or looking for a place to call home - permanently.

@ Deb. There are not any condos for rent on our side of the peninsula. Most condos and rentals are available near Panama City. You may check www.encuentra24.com and search the listings. The ocean is warm year round in the Pacific and always a pleasure to swim in. Sometimes when it gets hot the river is a nice option because they are colder. Good luck!

If you've never experienced Eden you must! Have spent lots of time in Panama and recommend it to anyone that loves beautiful weather, breathtaking sunsets, and beaches that will knock your socks off, literally, if your on the beach and don't have your socks off your missing out on everything God has to offer you! Pull up a hammock, pop open a cold one and breath in everything that Panama has to offer, And trust me it offers mucho mas!

We're retired surfers having spent all our lives in Hawaii. We now live in Boquete. Would be neat to have a place to surf where you are not one of 50 at a single peak.
Are there waves that can be accessed in your locaton?

There are 4 different beaches to surf in the area. The waves are bigger in some beaches than others, but there is always some wave to surf. The only beach that gets crowded is Playa Reina. On the weekends there may be 15 people in the water. In the other surf spots, youmay be the only one in the water!

Here is great information on how to get to Panama from the United States. Copa flies nonstop to Panama City, and American, Delta, Continental and Mexicana offer connecting service (change of planes). Restricted round-trip fares begin at $338. Round-trip service to David is available on Air Panama. Restricted-round trip fares begin at $160.
Here is contact information for the Embassy. Embassy of Panama, (202) 483-1407, http://www.visitpanama.com.
If you need to get a pet to Panama, please feel free to ask. We have arranged and successfully moved pets to Panama. It is just a step by step process.
The above information can be attributed to this article. http://www.businesspanama.com/latestnews/article.php?nid=429
A great article for pensioners and retirees looking for long term arrangements in Panama.
If you would like more advice or to speak with a local attorney that speak Spanish and English, please don't hesitate to ask.

Having spent 10 days with them, I can assure you that Jake and Alli are excellent hosts and friendly and honest business people. They are eager to share their Panama experiences and are a wealth of information.
They LIVE where they work, unlike many companies which breeze in and make a quick buck and then are off to the next developing country and a different project. Jake and Alli have worked through the newness and hardships of living in the azuero, and are rewarded with magnificent ocean views, glorious sunsets and rainbows, pristine beaches, and unspoiled beauty everywhere they look.
There is such privacy, tranquility and specialness here. You awake to birds singing and waves lapping at the shore below. You can be as lazy or as busy as you like each day. Nothing will disturb you (well, maybe a monkey). A breath-taking sunset will conclude your day. And, then you start all over again.
Anyone can live in a city condo or a pre-planned expat community, but the adventurous should check out the azuero.
I wrote in on the contact page but wanted to add that my wife and I are looking for @ 1 - 2 acres on or near the beach to possibly develop a small eco resort as well as living there. My particular interest is surfing, along with fishing and diving, and prefer an area that provides accessibilty to these watersports. I am not sure if there is a need for recreational marine construction and/or aluminum fabrication, but that is my background here in S FL. Any information or help is greatly appreciated.
